Heather has been helping dogs and their families communicate since 2012. She is experienced in socialization, general manners, and behavior problem solving for dogs of numerous breeds at every stage of life. She particularly enjoys starting puppies off with a solid socialization foundation, helping reactive and fearful dogs find new confidence, giving families the skills to enjoy hiking and travel together, and promoting cooperative care training for stress-free vet visits and grooming. Heather's varied background includes placing and integrating rescue dogs into new homes, curating healthy and fun group interactions for doggy daycare, and coaching owners in group classes and private lessons. Her training approach is based heavily in positive reinforcement, classical and operant conditioning, and environmental management. Heather is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) with a commitment to regular continuing education. She is passionate about the sciences of learning and applied animal behavior. In her free time she enjoys hiking and creating pottery on the wheel. Her favorite hiking partners are her husband, and Meeko, their smart and playful Pomeranian.
